InJourney’s 4th Anniversary Promotes the Preservation of Indonesian Nature and Culture

Badung, MiningNews.id – State-owned aviation and tourism holding company PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney, celebrated its fourth anniversary in Indonesia by holding a Media Tour with a number of media crews at Amarterra Villa, The Nusa Dua, Bali on Tuesday (January 20). Since its establishment in January 2022, InJourney has undertaken a transformation journey focused on strengthening the fundamentals of its subsidiaries through asset integration, strengthening operational and managerial governance, and improving service quality and customer experience. These efforts have yielded significant gains in overall group profitability, achieved through a collaborative approach based on mutual cooperation, supported by close synergy with the government and stakeholders.

Herdy Harman, InJourney’s Director of Human Resources and Digital, emphasized that sustainability and business responsibility are the main foundations of national tourism transformation. He believes that development should not stop at infrastructure and programs but must also address the most essential aspect: people.
“Building infrastructure is one thing, but developing people is another, equally important, issue. A good program must be accompanied by prepared human resources so that the transformation can be sustainable and have a long-term impact,” Herdy emphasized.
He added that InJourney’s sustainable tourism framework is supported by two main pillars: environmental and socio-economic. Within the environmental pillar, InJourney focuses on responsible water and waste management, strengthening climate and environmental strategies, and biodiversity protection and conservation efforts. These initiatives are designed to minimize the environmental impact of aviation and tourism activities, while encouraging the implementation of environmentally friendly practices throughout the value chain.
“We hope that Nusadua can serve as an example, considering that Nusadua was the first to be established as the BTDC. This integration system can be connected by developing as many new tourist destinations as possible, transforming the airport and improving air connectivity, developing cultural and educational destinations such as Borobudur and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park), developing International Medical Tourism in the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and developing Mandalika and Golo Mori,” he said.
Meanwhile, Anak Agung Istri Ratna Dewi, President Director of ITDC Nusantara Utilities, explained that InJourney Group implements an integrated approach based on circular economy principles for resource and waste management at the ITDC Nusa Dua area. Throughout its implementation, solid waste management reached 97.82 m³, equivalent to 19.92 tons per day. Of this total, only 11.99 m³ was successfully handled within the area, while the remainder was transported outside by waste management vendors.
The media gathering began at the ITDC area at Amarterra Villa, The Nusa Dua, and continued with a visit to the Lagoon, where the entire media crew witnessed the utilization of 1,728,304 m³ of recycled water to support water efficiency at various destinations.
The visit then continued to the Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) facility, which produces 331,382 m³ of clean water, reducing dependence on groundwater and increasing the area’s resilience to the risks of climate change. SWRO utilizes seawater as an alternative source of clean water, thereby reducing dependence on groundwater and freshwater sources. Furthermore, the implementation of SWRO can mitigate the risk of water scarcity due to climate change and strengthen water security.

InJourney implements various strategic initiatives including renewable energy utilization, operational electrification, water and waste management, and environmental rehabilitation programs. The implementation of solar power plants (PLTS) at nine major airports generates 10,760 MWh of renewable energy per year and has the potential to avoid 9,860 tons of CO2e emissions per year, equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 272,000 trees. These efforts form the foundation for the energy transition in the aviation and tourism sectors managed by InJourney.
Finally, the visit concluded with a tree planting event as a demonstration of various strategic initiatives, including renewable energy utilization, operational electrification, water and waste management, and environmental rehabilitation programs.
“The use of solar power plants (PLTS) has been implemented at nine major airports, generating 10,760 MWh of renewable energy per year and potentially avoiding 9,860 tons of CO2e emissions per year, equivalent to the carbon absorption of 272,000 trees. This effort is the foundation for the energy transition in the aviation and tourism sectors managed by InJourney,” said Ratna.
In line with this, InJourney is accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and equipment across all business lines. To date, InJourney has operated 716 vehicles.
and electrical equipment, including ground support equipment (GSE), buggy cars, minibuses, golf carts, and other modes of transportation at various tourism destinations, as a concrete step to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce operational emissions.
As part of its climate change mitigation efforts, InJourney is also implementing a program to plant 40,000 mangrove trees across its operational areas. This program is projected to strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems and support the sustainability of tourism destinations.
“Through this series of initiatives, InJourney affirms its commitment to making sustainability part of its business strategy and destination management. This approach ensures that the transformation of aviation and tourism not only drives economic growth but also strengthens environmental resilience, resource efficiency, and leaves a sustainable green legacy for future generations,” Ratna concluded.(*daniel)
